This proposal charts a course for a more connected and efficient Camp George, fostering a thriving environment for staff, campers, and alumni. We’ll achieve this by implementing a suite of innovative solutions focused on streamlined operations, enhanced community engagement, and program development.

Boosting Staff Collaboration

The Camp George Staff Apps Hub introduces a collection of open-source applications designed to empower staff. Tools like Nextcloud, File Pizza, and Syncthing will streamline document management and sharing. EasyAppointments will simplify scheduling, while OpenProject facilitates project planning and collaboration. MediaWiki and HumHub will serve as a knowledge base and internal social network, respectively, fostering information sharing and team spirit.

Building a Stronger Community

Live streaming capabilities, powered by platforms like Owncast or PeerTube, will bridge the physical distance between camp and its extended community. Camp activities, services, and performances will come alive for campers, staff, and alumni alike, strengthening ties and fostering a sense of belonging. This technology can further enhance recruitment and new camper orientation by allowing remote participation.

Fueling Program Innovation

The Program Bank, built on Hugo, will act as a central repository for past, present, and future camp programs. This digital archive ensures valuable knowledge and successful program ideas are preserved for future staff. Staff can easily access and adapt existing programs, saving valuable planning time. The platform also encourages collaboration and innovation by allowing staff to contribute their own program ideas. To maintain a balance between efficiency and creativity, a system can be implemented where each program group pulls only one activity from the Program Bank per session.

By embracing these solutions, Camp George will create a more connected, efficient, and innovative environment for all involved. This future is one where staff are empowered, the camp community thrives, and program development flourishes.
